The 2nd XV had their first home game of the season against a Finn Valley side which had beaten them in the last 4 fixtures. So there was pressure on to put in a big performance. Conditions were perfect at Dave Gallagher Park and things got kicked off with Kenny receiving from kick off. A clean catch from Long and a pass to McNichol saw the center beat nearly all of the Finn Valley backs to touch down between the posts for a try which will have to go into the record books for quickest scored. Finn Valley regrouped though and put in a strong defence for the rest of the half under a lot of pressure from Kenny. A conversion and 2 penalties from out half Stephen Robinson brought the score to 13-0 at the end of the half.
Letterkenny put more pressure on in attack in the 2nd half. Big ball carriers like Scott and McGlynn broke through again and again and this pressure led to 2 tries from Chris Long, another from McNichol and one from winger Eoin Friel. Finn Valley gave a big push to get a score on the board in the last 10 minutes. The kenny defence held solid though with some big tackles put in. At the final whistle though Finn Valley finished in the Kenny 22 with no score. A great win for Letterkenny which gives a lot of promise for the season ahead.

This Saturday the 1st XV travel to play Donegal Town 1st XV in the Gordon West Cup. The 2nd XV's next match is against Ballyshannon on 25th October.
