Letterkenny 2nd XV made the long journey to Randalstown in Antrim to face the Randalstown 3rd XV in the McCambley Cup with the winner getting a place in the quarter finals. Kenny started off poorly though with a fumbled loose ball letting Randalstown break into the 22 and camp there for the first 5 minutes. The pressure was too much for Kenny in the end and Randalstown broke through for the opening try. The Kenny heads didn’t drop though and they spent most of the 1st half putting pressure on Randalstown with some excellent kicking from McRory and the Robinson putting Kenny in the opposite 22 for numerous lineouts. The Kenny lineouts were excellent and from this they built the phases allowing tries from Gallagher (2) and Digimas. An excellent break from Doherty on the wing just before the end of the half saw Kenny extend the lead to 22-7. It was a different game in the 2nd half though with most of the rugby played by Randalstown. The Kenny defence was excellent in holding off numerous attacks but after huge pressure Randalstown broke through for 2 tries one of which was converted to leave the final score 22-19 to Letterkenny who go through to the Quarter finals.
