In the replay of last weeks abandoned McCambley Cup game, Letterkenny once again hosted Enniskillen in poor conditions. Kenny started off well in attack pushing into the Enniskillen 22 and getting a penalty for their efforts which was kicked over by outhalf Stephen Robinson. The poor weather meant there were plenty of scrums from knock-ons. Enniskillen really dominated at the scrum an pt kenny under a lot of pressure in defence. Kenny held the line though and a break way try from McDowell was a reward for their efforts, and Robinson topped it off with the conversion. Half time 10-0 to Kenny.
Enniskillen continued to hold possession and attack in the 2nd half although were never really able to break into the Kenny 22. A few silly penalties given away by Kenny allowed the visitors to kick their way back to 10-9. Kenny responded though from this and came at Enniskillen hard pushing right up to the 22. A penalty for their efforts saw Robinson increase the lead to 13-9. The final 5 minutes again saw Kenny fighting to hold off the Enniskillen attack. But some fantastic tackles particularly from no13 Peterson stopped any potential try from Enniskillen and with the final whistle Letterkenny were through to the next round of the cup. Final Score 13-9 to Letterkenny.
Next week both teams are away with the 1st XV traveling to Cavan and the 2nd XV making the short journey to Strabane.
