A very wet & cold morning, saw a mountain of teams descend on the Dave Gallagher grounds, for a mini festival.
The Under 12's took on the might, of Inishowen. Letterkenny were very warmed up, and pumped, for the first game. They dominated the first half, with another solid run from Oisin Farrell, and an "almost" try - but the ball was grounded just in front of the line, allowing David Sparks, to collect it, and go over for the try. Shortly before half time, it was Jack Speer's turn to add a second try, to the scoreboard. In the second half, Inishowen were able to come back with a try, before Alex McDermott, sealed the game with a runaway try, leaving the final score, three tries to one.
Next up, was the first game of the season, against Portadown. A strong and aggressive team, they had possession for most of the first half. All credit to Letterkenny, as strong tackling was the only thing keeping Portadown, at bay. The second half saw Letterkenny get more of the ball, but some contentious decisions, gave Portadown an advantage, and eventually they turned that into points. A disappointing loss, of one try to zero.
Thanks to all visitors, parents, coaches, club members and players.
